Kalinda is an e2L eGrowe certified trainer and coach who is passionate about preparing students, as well as her own children, to grow into responsible adults with Life Ready Skills. Through her experience, she concludes that when a child has ownership in their learning, fewer behavior problems occur.
In her prior work history, she established her educational career as a 7th grade ELAR teacher at a Title I school where she was soon elected to be one of the four pilot teachers to be trained and coached on implementing the e2L framework. Next, she spent the summer of 2010 designing cross-curricular learning experiences in preparation for the launch of the e2L framework at her campus.
Additionally, she expanded her knowledge by teaching 6th-grade ELAR in another Title I school in her hometown for three years. Her experiences included working with schools that serve varied populations such as students at high risk, students with special needs, and students from low-income families. Kalinda was honored to help found the Girls’ Club which would help empower teen girls to positively interact with one another while acquiring crucial social, emotional, and leadership skills.
Through teaching, tutoring, advocating, and facilitating peer mentoring, Kalinda’s true passion was revealed. Consequently, she pursued her M. Ed in Counseling which enabled her to increase her educational experience as an elementary counselor. As a result, she played a vital role in not only guiding but also empowering, students at the primary level.
