AUSTIN, Tex. — Former superintendent and education expert will collaborate with school leaders across the nation to create custom solutions and revolutionize professional development efforts.
engage2learn, a leader in supporting public school districts through measured, competency-based talent development, announced the appointment of Dr. Michael Hinojosa as Chief Impact Officer. In his new role at engage2learn, Dr. Hinojosa will work with school leaders around the country to develop and implement sustainable systems of innovation designed to engage and support educators on an individual level.
Burnout and resignations are rampant in education, with 25% of superintendents across the country leaving in the last year. It’s increasingly difficult for administrators and teachers to navigate the current state of education, which is why engage2learn provides forward-thinking resources and smart professional development to retain educators and leaders, optimize learning opportunities, and cultivate high-performance cultures. Dr. Hinojosa’s role is to increase impact through customized solutions that result in professional growth analytics representing measurable outcomes for teachers, students, and leaders.
“The key word in my new role – impact – is exactly what I’ve strived for throughout my career in public education, so I’m honored to work alongside education leaders and empower them to implement real-world, dynamic solutions,” said Dr. Hinojosa. With an education career spanning 43 years, including 27 years of experience as a superintendent, Dr. Hinojosa deeply understands the challenges educators face. As Chief Impact Officer, he will collaborate with school leaders to implement and execute long-term, analytics-based strategies to evolve professional learning and get results.
“Transforming educational cultures through professional development is not only possible but is also paramount to retaining educators, driving performance, and delivering measurable outcomes for students. I’m honored to join an organization dedicated to providing innovative, beneficial professional learning opportunities for education professionals,” said Dr. Hinojosa.
As the former superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District (Dallas ISD), Dr. Hinojosa launched a multi-year effort to integrate evidence-based, tech-enabled coaching across the district - even to operations employees. Dallas ISD is one of the nation’s highest-performing urban school districts, with more than 10 percent of seniors graduating high school in 2021 with both a high school diploma and an associate’s degree. By comparison, only 7 percent of Dallas ISD seniors in 2009 earned any type of secondary credit within six years of high school graduation. Dallas ISD’s success with Dr. Hinojosa at the wheel demonstrates how customized, evidence-based professional development can directly impact student outcomes and organizational culture.
“Dr. Hinojosa has focused on the mission of public schools and achieving that promise through positive, quantifiable results,” said Shannon Buerk, engage2learn Founder and CEO. “Throughout his career, he’s demonstrated a remarkable commitment to education and the unique skill set to create real and lasting change. Dr. Hinojosa shares our dedication to transforming the possibilities of public education, and we are thrilled and honored to join forces to have an impact on public schools nationwide.”
