Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Brenda is a strong advocate for bi-literacy and equity for our bilingual student population. For the past 9 years, she has served students and their families from different grade levels. She has been a bilingual teacher for 3rd and 4th graders, and Spanish teacher for native and non-native students for grades 6th to 8th . In the year 2000 she was named Teacher of the Year for West Handley Elementary in Fort Worth ISD.
Brenda holds a master’s degree from University of Phoenix in Global Business Management and Marketing, but certified herself alternatively as a teacher after working for Scholastic Bookfairs, where she fell in love wit the magic of reading.
