Ivonne Acuña Headshot

Ivonne Acuña

Ivonne has been committed to the success of all students by supporting, coaching and guiding teachers to implement the most successful learning strategies despite social or cultural boundaries.  She has over 20 years of experience in two very diverse districts. Ivonne is very passionate about providing multilingual learners with equitable academic and linguistic access to the curriculum.

Ivonne began her educational career as a Bilingual Kindergarten teacher.  She incorporated differentiated instruction into her classroom to make lessons interactive and allow students to take ownership of their learning. In addition to being a classroom teacher, Ivonne has had the privilege of being a reading specialist, giving her the opportunity to support and guide teachers to implement the most impactful strategies in their classrooms.  As a specialist she continued to grow and became MTA (Multisensory Teaching Approach) certified for dyslexia.  Ivonne continued her leadership role as a district Bilingual Instruction Specialist, working in collaboration with district and campus level administrators to support the successful implementation of the One-Way Dual Language program and its goals of biliteracy and bilingualism.

These incredible experiences in the education community have given her the knowledge and expertise to support teachers on their journey to better serve culturally and linguistically diverse students.
