2021-2022 Talent Development Report: A Message from Shannon K. Buerk

Shannon-Standing-small-tallent-developmentOver the past few years, educators and administrators have been working hard to navigate uncertain waters in the time of COVID-19, and many districts have relied on engage2learn (e2L) to help ensure they are able to meet their goals for teachers and students. In the face of adversity, I’ve seen our partner districts display fierce determination and resilience, committed to doing right by learners under any circumstance. With support from e2L coaches, thousands of educators, leaders, and instructional coaches have been equipped with the tools, resources, best practices, and encouragement to continue doing the work they love and do it well.

As school and district leaders continue to grapple with the impact of disrupted learning amid a nationwide teacher shortage, coaching and talent development from e2L has proven to be a critical factor in not just teacher retention, but in improving student outcomes as well.

In fact, a recent study of student data from the 2021-2022 school year in one medium-sized partner district conducted by a third-party researcher overwhelmingly substantiates what we’ve seen for years on the ground and in our own data: Job-embedded educator support from e2L has a statistically significant impact on student growth in reading and math.

In an effort to celebrate, quantify, and provide a holistic view of educator growth as a result of talent development support from e2L, I’m thrilled to share our 2021-2022 Talent Development Report with you here. In analyzing all of our professional growth and correlated student achievement data, one thing is clear:

Educators cannot meet the challenges of today with the methods of the past.

Thus, I’m proud that at e2L we’re leading the charge to create a network of public school innovators that are transforming traditional
PD into true educator talent development, abandoning the methods of the past that no longer produce results and ensuring that the learner experience is never left up to chance.
