How Competency-Based Coaching Is Driving Equity in Kentucky

Following the Kentucky Department of Education's (KDE) launch of the Equity Playbook in the summer of 2022, public school districts across the state are implementing job-embedded, DEIB-focused coaching for teachers, leaders, and counselors.

In partnership with engage2learn (e2L), districts like Boone County Schools are utilizing customized, leveled, role-specific professional learning rubrics to keep coaching centered on equity-focused competencies, including Cultural Competence, Community Building, and Awareness.

"The goal in Kentucky is that every student and every educator feels a sense of belonging."
