engage2learn and ETS to Partner on New Innovative Solution for Diverse Teacher Recruitment and Retention

engage2learn and ETS are excited to announce a new partnership: together, they will bring an innovative solution to K-12 school districts that is designed to address and solve urgent teacher recruitment and retention challenges.

Through this partnership, engage2learn and ETS will use targeted first-year coaching to support candidates who need to pass the Praxis exam. Efforts like these aim to alleviate the pressure busy school district leaders face in recruiting and retaining high-quality educators year over year.

The growing number of Praxis exam takers remains the largest teacher-candidate pool nationwide. Overall, this multifaceted, intentional approach to building a diverse and highly qualified educator workforce will significantly reduce the national teacher attrition rate.

“We are 100% committed to solving the teacher shortage in a way that no other organization is doing: enhancing the diversity of the pipeline and using our proven methods of increasing retention and performance. Essentially the combination of ETS and engage2learn ensures districts can have it all,” says Shannon Buerk, CEO of engage2learn. “We have been collaborating with ETS on this ground-breaking solution for a year now and are extremely optimistic about the impact on the entire K-12 system.”

Research from The Learning Policy Institute indicates that urban districts spend an average of $20,000 when onboarding each new hire. Reallocating the lost dollars of replacement costs toward coaching and subsequently retaining teachers is another key to fixing the leaky pipeline and better serving learners while still maximizing taxpayer dollars.

“Many people have a dream of becoming a teacher and are often turned away or unsupported. This partnership will leverage a unique pipeline of passionate individuals who have a heart for education and will equip them to thrive in their new careers,” notes Paul Gollash, Senior Vice President of K-16 Solutions at ETS. “We’ve long known students thrive when they feel represented, and this initiative will bolster a diverse, well-trained population of teachers to lead our classrooms.”
