Innovative Partnership Between engage2learn and Duval County Public Schools Promises to Improve Outcomes for English Language Learners

DCPS_LOGO_CMYKAUSTIN, TXengage2learn (e2L), the leading strategic implementation partner for public schools nationwide, is proud to announce a new partnership with Jacksonville, Florida’s Duval County Public Schools. Through multi-layered, evidence-based school improvement support, this partnership will foster effective instructional practices to improve educational outcomes for English language learners (ELLs) in five of the district’s elementary schools.

In alignment with the district’s strategic plan, which includes maintaining high-performing schools and providing historically underserved students with the support they need to succeed, a thorough analysis of district data was conducted to determine which schools and student groups needed the most support. Based on that analysis, five elementary schools – Beauclerc Elementary, Crown Point Elementary, Greenfield Elementary, Spring Park Elementary, and Timucuan Elementary – were identified as having an influx of ELL student enrollment and the urgent need for targeted support in order to improve ELLs’ academic performance.

With a proven track record of improving language proficiency and academic outcomes for ELLs through its research-backed implementation strategies, tailored support systems, and proprietary, tech-enabled processes, Duval selected e2L as its partner in this critical work. e2L’s approach is designed to empower educators to grow in the skills proven to have the most impact on ELLs, underscoring the commitment to meet the immediate needs of multilingual learners, foster sustainable instructional practices, and nurture inclusive learning environments across the district.

"This collaboration with Duval County Public Schools represents a significant step forward in ensuring that every English language learner has the opportunity to excel, which positively impacts the entire community,” said Shannon Buerk, Founder and CEO of engage2learn. “By leveraging our tailored strategies and proprietary technology, we are not just addressing the immediate challenges but also laying down a foundation for long-term success for Duval’s ELLs. We are honored to partner with the district to create a model for the nation."

Scott Schneider, Chief of Schools for Duval County Public Schools, added, "The decision to partner with engage2learn is rooted in our unwavering commitment to provide all students with the quality education they deserve. The targeted support for our English language learners in these five schools is just the beginning. We are dedicated to expanding our capacity to serve every student better, and this partnership is a pivotal part of our strategy to achieve educational equity and excellence across the district."

Building upon e2L’s track record of significantly improving outcomes for ELLs in public school districts around the country, this collaboration signifies a pivotal moment for both entities, setting a precedent for transformative educational practices. Together, Duval County and e2L are poised to empower English language learners, unlocking their full potential and paving the way for enhanced language acquisition and academic success.
