ReadyLabAchieve your Portrait of a Graduate, student by student, skill by skill.

ReadyLab turns real student work into trusted proof of the durable skills your Portrait of a Graduate names, without hand-scoring portfolios. Students learn a skill, show it with an authentic artifact, and earn a district-verified badge; leaders get reports ready for Perkins V and CCMR.

The readiness gap

Students and employers don’t see the same graduate.

Ask students how ready they are, and they rate themselves well. Ask the people who hire them, and the number drops. A Portrait of a Graduate measured by self-report inherits that gap.

  1. Critical thinking
  2. Teamwork
  3. Professionalism
Employers rate graduates 25–30 points lower than students rate themselves in critical thinking, teamwork and professionalism (NACE, 2025). Bar lengths show the gap, not exact scores.

Authentic skill measurement, without managing portfolios by hand.

Four steps take one skill from your Portrait of a Graduate to a badge a student can show. Scroll to follow one student through them, including the resubmission that makes the badge mean something.

  1. Step 01 · Select a skill

Start from your Portrait of a Graduate.

Students choose a durable skill from your Portrait of a Graduate, or from a common employability-skills set if your district is still writing one.

  2. Step 02 · Complete the course

Learn the skill before showing it.

A self-paced course of about two to three hours for each skill, with short lessons and checks along the way, builds a real understanding of what the skill looks like in practice.

  3. Step 03 · Upload artifacts

Show the skill in real work.

Students upload work from class or work-based learning, such as a video, a presentation, a design file or a lab report, with a reflection on how they used the skill.

  4. Step 04 · Verify and report

    Verified, badged and reported.

AI-assisted scoring checks the evidence against the skill’s rubric, a student can ask engage2learn’s team for a human review of any score, and students refine and resubmit until proficient. The result is a district-verified badge for the student and a Perkins V-ready report for leaders.

    03 · AI-assisted skill assessment

    Feedback students can act on.

AI scores each artifact against the skill’s rubric and tells the student, in plain language, what is working and what to strengthen next, and a student can ask engage2learn’s team for a human review.

04 · Badging and portable credentials

Credentials that travel with the student.

District-verified micro-credentials for each durable skill, which students share on resumes, applications, LinkedIn and digital portfolios.

  5. ReadyLab Reporting by School screen showing three high schools with the share of students who earned at least one badge and progress on three skills, with an export button and a Perkins V label

    05 · CLNA- and Perkins V-ready reporting

Reports you can hand to the state, and to the board.

Export student-level skill attainment by school, subgroup and time range to strengthen CLNAs, grant narratives, board updates and accountability submissions.

Evidence, not self-report

What gets measured, and what it proves.

What readiness tools often measure

  • How students rate themselves
  • Interests and aptitudes
  • Courses completed and boxes checked
  • A portfolio someone has to score by hand

What ReadyLab measures

  • What students can show they did
  • An authentic artifact and a reflection, for each skill
  • Proficiency against a rubric, resubmitted until it is met
  • Badges and reports, without hand-scoring every portfolio

FAQ

Questions leaders ask.

What is ReadyLab?

ReadyLab is a K–12 platform that measures durable, employability skills from authentic student work and turns that work into verified evidence aligned to your Portrait of a Graduate and CTE outcomes. It complements the college and career readiness system you already run: those tools help students explore, and ReadyLab verifies what students can do.

How is ReadyLab different from CCR platforms, aptitude tests and industry certifications?

ReadyLab verifies skills students demonstrate in their day-to-day work, where most other tools measure interests, plans or completion. CCR platforms center on career exploration, course plans and compliance checklists, and aptitude and certification vendors measure interests or run proctored exams. ReadyLab scores artifacts from classes and work-based learning against skill rubrics and issues district-verified micro-credentials.

How do students learn employability skills in ReadyLab?

Students learn each skill in a self-paced online course of about two to three hours, aligned to your Portrait of a Graduate or district priorities. Districts can also upload their own SCORM or e-learning courses, or build new courses with engage2learn.

What can students use as an artifact?

Almost any file a student makes can serve as an artifact: short videos, presentations, design files, writing samples, lab reports, images of performances or builds, and guided reflections.

How are artifacts scored, and does AI-assisted assessment work for employability skills?

Each artifact is scored against a scaffolded rubric that defines the skill at several levels of mastery. ReadyLab’s AI checks the evidence against that rubric and gives the student rubric-aligned feedback and next steps right away. A student who disagrees with a score can ask engage2learn’s team for a human review. Students act on the feedback and resubmit until the work meets the rubric.

Can we use our existing Portrait of a Graduate?

Yes. Bring your Portrait of a Graduate language and rubrics, or start from a common employability-skills set, and tailor the performance descriptors to local expectations.

What reports support CLNA, Perkins V and CCMR?

Leaders can download student-level skill attainment by school, subgroup and time range, aligned to Perkins V and CCMR indicators. Every report is organized by skill, giving programs and pathways the evidence they need for CLNA narratives, improvement planning, grant applications and board updates.

How do micro-credentials and badges work?

When a student’s evidence meets the rubric, ReadyLab issues a district-verified micro-credential for that skill. Students share it on resumes, applications, LinkedIn and digital portfolios, and keep a portfolio of the evidence behind it.

Does ReadyLab support work-based learning evidence?

Yes. Students capture artifacts and supervisor confirmations tied to target skills during work-based learning, and an export lets that skill growth sit alongside placements and hours in your other systems.

How does ReadyLab handle data privacy and security?

ReadyLab is built with FERPA-aligned practices, role-based access, and administrator controls over data retention and sharing. Its AI runs inside a closed system, so student artifacts never leave engage2learn’s secure infrastructure and are never used to train AI models.
