Planning & DesignA plan built from what the assessment found.
A district plan usually names the right goals and then stalls in the carrying out. engage2learn works with your team to design the plan around the educator skills your diagnosis named, so every priority has an owner and a measure, tracked in GroweLab from the first week.
The same plan, four ways more useful.
Watch one page of a plan change as you scroll. Nothing in the goals changes. What changes is who owns each priority, how it is measured, and whether anyone can see it slipping.
Every student reads on grade level by the end of grade 3.
- Coach small-group reading instruction, grades K-3 Curriculum & Instruction 64%
- Calibrated walkthroughs in every school Principals 82%
- Family voice in every school improvement plan Family engagement 38% At risk
- Lesson internalization in PLCs for the new math materials Math coordinator 55%
- The plan as written
Most plans are written carefully and carried out on hope.
A good plan names the right goals. Then it goes into a binder, and the people who have to carry it out read it once. The planning was never the hard part. Execution is, and execution needs more than paragraphs.
- An owner for every priority
Every priority belongs to someone.
We design the plan with you around the educator skills your diagnosis named, then give every priority a named owner in the district, so nothing in it waits for "someone" to start.
- A measure that moves
Progress you can see as it happens.
Each priority carries a measure that updates as the work happens in GroweLab, from the first week. Your board can follow the roadmap all year.
- An early warning
Know what is slipping while there is time to fix it.
When a priority falls behind, the dashboard says so, and the coaching goes where the plan needs it.
No competitors offer a platform built to track 5-year K-12 strategic plans.
Tell us the question, and we’ll match the engagement.
Five design engagements, each answering a different question. Every one starts from what an assessment found and ends with a plan your district owns and can see moving.

Already have a plan? We build on it.
We don’t replace the plan you have. We connect it to what your assessment found, then build the systems to carry it out with you, in four phases: Engage, Design, Plan, Lead.
Partnering with hundreds of districts nationwide since 2011.
It wasn’t cookie-cutter. It was individualized for each district community, and that’s what we needed. We wanted something that was just for us.
The plan is aimed by the assessment, and carried by the coaching.
Design is the second step. It turns what the diagnosis named into priorities with owners and measures, and hands them to the coaching that grows the skills behind them.
- 01
Diagnose
The assessment names the educator skills behind the gap, school by school.

Design
A plan built around exactly those skills, with an owner and a measure for every priority, tracked in GroweLab.
Planning & Design - 03
Coach
Former district practitioners coach the skills the plan depends on, inside your schools.

Connect to community
Leaders work the plan’s hardest problems with peers in the Jim Knight Impact Network.

Questions leaders ask.
How is engage2learn’s Planning & Design different from a traditional planning firm?
engage2learn and your leaders design the plan from what an assessment found, and we stay beside you as you carry it out. Every priority gets an owner and a measure, the plan is tracked in GroweLab from the first week, and the same partner coaches the skills the plan depends on, so the plan does not end as a document on a shelf.
We already have a strategic plan. Do we have to start over?
No. engage2learn builds on the plan you have rather than replacing it. The usual work is to connect its goals to the educator skills an assessment names, give each priority an owner and a measure, and put it on a dashboard your board and community can read.
Do we have to start with an assessment, or run every step with engage2learn?
No. A district can start at any step of the cycle: an assessment, a plan, coaching, or the Network and its events. Many partners run one or two steps with engage2learn and the rest on their own, and add steps as their questions change.
How does a plan connect to the assessment results?
The assessment names the educator skills behind a student-outcome gap, school by school, and the plan is built around exactly those skills. That is why the cycle runs diagnose, then design: a priority in the plan points at something the assessment found.
Which Planning & Design engagement fits our question?
Start with the question you are asking. A five-year district plan is Strategic Design; initiative overload is Instructional Framework Planning & Design; a materials adoption is HQIM Planning & Design; a coaching program that is not changing practice is the Coaching System Design; and a school that needs results this year is System Assessment & Design.
How is the plan tracked after it is approved?
The plan is tracked in GroweLab, with every priority’s owner, progress and an early warning when it slips. engage2learn’s implementation coaching continues alongside it, so a leader can see which priorities are moving and where support is needed.
How long does a design engagement take?
It depends on the engagement. HQIM design is typically a semester-to year-long process, and a strategic plan is built in four phases, Engage, Design, Plan and Lead, with implementation coaching across the years that follow.
Plan once. Then watch it move.
Tell us about the plan you have, or the one you need, and we’ll show you how it would look with an owner, a measure and an early warning on every priority.
