Who we serve · Increasing Student Enrollment

Make your schools the first choice for the families around them.

Families choose schools they trust, and they don’t always say why they leave. engage2learn starts by asking them, along with students and staff, the same questions about the same school. Then we plan with you from where they disagree.

Same questions, three voices

The gap is where the plan starts.

Staff may believe families feel welcome. Families may not agree. When all three groups answer the same questions in the same four areas, the widest gap shows you where to start.

The neighborhood public school can be the first choice for every family. Getting there starts with hearing what families actually say.

From the outcome to the skill behind it

Five rungs down, from empty seats to what families say.

Scroll down the ladder: from the outcome you see to what produces it, and back up to how you’ll know it moved.

  1. The outcome you see

    Families choosing other schools.

Enrollment slips a few seats at a time, to charters, neighboring districts and private schools. The reasons rarely arrive with the withdrawal form.

  2. What the diagnosis looks at

What families, students and staff each say.

The Data Triangle asks all three the same questions about the same school, in Spanish and other languages, so you can see where they agree and where they don’t.

  3. The plan

Goals built from where they disagree.

Strategic Design turns that listening into priorities with an owner and a measure, and can carry implementation support for enrollment as a high-priority initiative. System Assessment & Design looks at the systems behind a school families are leaving.

  4. The work

    Changes families can see.

How a school welcomes families, how it communicates, and what happens in classrooms, each owned by someone and checked against the plan.

  5. How you’ll know it moved

Ask again, and track the plan.

The Data Triangle runs again on the same questions, and the plan’s progress is tracked in GroweLab, so you can see whether the gaps are closing.

Where to start

Match your question to an offering.

Three offerings work on enrollment, from listening to the plan.

  1. If you’re sayingWe don’t know why families are leaving. Start withThe Data Triangle
  2. If you’re sayingWe need a plan the community helped write. Start withStrategic Design
  3. If you’re sayingOne school keeps losing families, and we need to know what’s behind it. Start withSystem Assessment & Design
  4. If you’re sayingSomething that isn’t on this list. Start withAsk us. We’ll match the right engagement.
Where this sits in the cycle

Enrollment starts with listening.

Increasing enrollment draws on the first two steps of the cycle: diagnose what families, students and staff say, then design a plan from it.

FAQ

Questions leaders ask.

How can a district learn why families choose other schools?

Ask them, and ask students and staff the same questions about the same school. The Data Triangle does that, so a district sees where families’ experience differs from what staff believe, school by school.

How does the Data Triangle reach families in their home language?

The Data Triangle is available in Spanish and additional languages. Families answer in the language they use at home, which brings in voices a district often doesn’t hear.

How does a plan turn that listening into a measurable enrollment goal?

Strategic Design builds the priorities from what families, students and staff said, gives each one an owner and a measure, and can include implementation support for enrollment as a high-priority initiative. Progress is tracked in GroweLab, which is built to track five-year K-12 strategic plans.

Do you have enrollment results to show?

Not yet on this page. We will show you what the Data Triangle and a strategic plan look like for a district like yours, and how progress on each goal is tracked.
